Home Resolution Ideas for 2023

During this week of reflection, our entire team hopes that the New Year brings you great joy in both your home and your heart! We pinch ourselves daily that we get to be a part of your home journey and cherish our role as your Real Estate Advisor. Your 5-star experiences and referrals always mean the world and are our greatest indicators of success.

Personally, I know most resolutions involve more exercise, financial responsibility and travel but we shouldn't forget our homes! If your walls could talk, they'd ask you to commit to the following 10 resolutions:

  1. Have the furnace tuned up and the filter changed at least 2-3 times
  2. Trim back tree limbs and branches that are too close to the roof or hanging over it
  3. Ensure downspouts are placed away from the foundation so water doesn't pour into the basement during big rainstorms
  4. Replace the water heater if it's over 10-15 years old and reduce my energy bills
  5. Have the wood rot around the siding professionally fixed to avoid serious damage over time
  6. Remove the filter inside the dishwasher and give it a good scrub (trust us, it's gross)
  7. Start setting money aside to have my wood windows replaced if they are drafty and showing signs of decline
  8. Test my smoke/CO2 detectors at least 2x this year and check if my home fire extinguishers have expired and need to be replaced
  9. Take a peek inside the attic and check to see if insulation needs to be added, if any bats are hiding out and if I have enough vents in place
  10. Test the sump pump battery/alarm and consider installing a back up system

If you need a service professional to help you with any of these resolutions, let us know! We're always here to support you with checking off your home maintenance to-do list.
